Grootbos Private Nature Reserve *****

Grootbos is a family owned and managed property located close to the beach near Hermanus, approx 2 hours from Cape Town. There are two lodges – each with its own restaurant and pool but the most suitable for families with children is the original Garden Lodge which has wooden cottages with 1 or 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, bathroom and outdoor deck area.

 

There is a wide variety of activities on offer which are available for adults and children alike and is a "must" for any nature lover. Activities include horse-riding, bird-watching, guided walks through the milkwood forest or just enjoy the endless white sandy beaches. And, of course, whale watching in season (July – November).

  • Delightful family cottages with either one or two bedrooms. Children can also sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge.

  • Numerous children’s activities including exciting supervised treasure hunts, excursions to the beach, rock pools, abseiling and trips through the reserve. While out exploring they can collect shells, bugs or porcupine quills which they take back to their own activities room for exciting identification.
  • Children can also help feed the farm animals and enjoy riding lessons.
