Tuningi Safari Lodge *****

Located in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, Tuningi Safari Lodge offers exceptional accommodation and facilities for families. The main lodge is thatched and offers a sumptuous lounge, a spacious dining room and a bar looking out on to a rim flow pool overlooking a water hole. Accommodation is in chalets, of which there are 4 family ones with 2 bedrooms linked by a lounge area in the middle. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles or on foot for those feeling brave! Dinner is normally served in the boma by a blazing fire after you return from your evening game drive.

ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILIES
  • On arrival guests with children meet the chef and can discuss dietary requirements, mealtimes etc.
  • All children receive an activity booklet which includes games, mazes and colouring – in activities
  • Children over 5yrs are allowed on the first game drive to enable the guide and parents to determine whether they should be allowed on normal daily game drives or whether they should go on Kiddies Drives.
  • Children who stay behind are looked after by nannies (small charge) until their 1 hr drive after breakfast. Instead of an afternoon game drive, young children are taken on treasure hunts to find nests, eggs, snake skins etc.
  • In the evenings children sometimes have their own supper in the boma with the chef where they can toast marshmallows on the fire, or they get to assemble their own pizzas with the chef. The evening is rounded off with storytelling about the animals, the bush and the stars.
