The Maldives

The Maldives consists of approx 1200 palm-fringed islands arranged in atolls to the south west of India, in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. These islands are surrounded by crystal clear waters fringed with coral reefs and white sand beaches and they are blessed with a fantastic climate making the Maldives a year round destination.

There are very few places that can rival the Maldives for the beauty and variety of its coral reefs and these can be enjoyed by everyone from the novice snorkeller to the experience diver. Everyone can expect to enjoy seeing dolphins, turtles and rays, as well as the myriad of beautifully coloured tropical fish.

When to go

The Maldives are pretty much an all year round destination, but with the majority of the rain falling between June - September, the best time to visit is probably from October - April. However, you should note the following!

  • The temperature averages 30 degrees all year round.
  • You get rain in the ‘‘dry’’ season and sun in the ‘‘wet’’ season.

So whenever you feel is the best time to visit Maldives, go for it and enjoy your holiday, after all, warm tropical rain in the Maldives is not the same as cold hard rain in a city!
